PHOTOGRAPHY COURSES

Knowledge Bowl Training & Consultancy and Sandven Image House present you with the following programs targetted at amateur photographers who want to learn to take better pictures and meet more friends, regardless of what brand of cameras you are using.

Our range of digital photography classes are conducted by instructors who are either Fellow or Associate of The Royal Photographic Society as well as practicing photographers. Most of them have at least 8 years of teaching experience and more than 2000 students todate.

Our experienced instructor for the Adobe software courses is also an Adobe certified instructor. He shall guide you in mastering the Adobe Photoshop and Elements software. The courses are specially structured to equip amateur photographers to complete the digital workflow with the use of the software to enhance or manipulate the pictures.

NIKON DSLR Workshop

Mr Steven Yee, an award winning photographer specialising in travel photography, is the youngest in the world to be conferred the Fellowship of The Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain (FRPS) and the Photographic Society of Singapore (FPSS) in 2003 at the age of 23. He has more than 7 years of photography coaching experience and more than 2000 students. He shall share with the participants the different ways to harness the potential of the D40/D60/D80/D90/D300/D700/D5000.

The basic level teaches you the fundamentals of basic photography such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO, exposure, when to use certain exposure settings, introduction to the techniques as well as basic image editing with the software. There will be practical session to enable the participants to practice what they have learnt.

This course is suitable for first time DSLR users who wants to learn to take better pictures with their DSLRs as well as current DSLR users who would like to have a refresher course. Many people have found the workflow created by the instructor interesting.

Our Answer is: “One can be conditioned to look at things in a creative way.”

After the DSLR Photography Course (Basic Level), this is the course to go for. This is also a course for those who want to refine their skills in photography. This is a very interesting intensive workshop with mainly hands-on practical sessions. You shall follow the instructor on the outing trips and appreciate the art of seeing. This workshop shall also meet the objective of making you a more confident photographer, able to handle day and night scenes. The various special techniques such as Panning, Long Exposure, Gradual Zoom etc will be covered and you shall practise them with guidance.

The prerequisite for this course is knowledge of basic photography.


Flash and Event Photography Course

Buildings and interiors are all around. The architects and interior designers craft the spaces into desirable habitats. These spaces need the knowledge, creative mindset and understanding of the photographer to create the image.

The course focuses on the objectives of the client to build upon the knowledge of the architectural and interior photography. The practical lessons present the students the real situation they will face during the shoot.

The instructor is a professional photographer who graduated from NUS's department of architecture.

Studio Portrait Photography Workshop

(S$210, 7 hours, 2 sessions)

Portrait photography is one of the oldest specialization of photography. There are many secrets to share, especially in posing and lighting control. During the 7 hours session, the participants will be briefed on the posing of the model, appreciation of shadow and highlight. The workshop fees include modelling fees. After the indoor photography shoot, the instructor will do a photo critique on the photographs taken during the practical sessions.


Travel Photography Course (for DSLR and Digital Compact Camera users)

(S$240, 5 Lessons)

What is travel photography? How do we prepare for the trips? What do we look out for? How do I take better travel shots? How do I make a travel slide show? These are probably common questions which are asked. The workshop will end with a photo critique and some basic tips on pictures enhancement. This workshop is open to users of digital compact camera and DSLR.

This course shall have its practical sessions conducted over one weekend where the participants are led by the instructor who is a Fellow of The Royal Photographic Society UK. Various techniques and ways to approach the subject will be discussed during the practical sessions.

Participants shall submit their works for critique. Certificate will be issued upon completion of the course.


Artistic Nude Photography Workshop

(S$120)

Commencing: 29th June 2008, Sunday, 2pm to4.30pm

Instructor: Steven Yee

Artistic nude photography is one of the oldest specialization in photography. It is the appreciation of the body forms, aided with shadow and highlight. The participants will be briefed on the do’s and don’ts, posing of the model, appreciation of shadow and highlight. The workshop fees include modelling fees. Participants shall bring their laptop. After the indoor photography shoot, the instructor will do a photo critique and guide the participants in the Photoshop touch-up process.

This 1 day workshop is conducted by the instructor who is a Fellow of The Royal Photographic Society UK. Certificate will be issued upon completion of the course. Participants must be at least the age of 21.

The Photo Critique session provides both beginner and intermediate level photographers to have a chance to have their works commented on by the instructors. This will facilitate their learning progress. During the session, each participant shall submit up to 10 pictures for the instructor to give comment. The instructor will also on the spot make enhancement on the images with the Photoshop software and the participants can bring back the enhanced images in their thumbdrive. This allows the participants to see how the instructors usually work on their images.

Even if you have no images to bring to the instructors, just by seeing how the images can be enhanced and hearing the instructors' comment can be a good learning experience.

Camera Maintenance Workshop
